Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu: The Krishna Mandapam is a typical rock-cut temple, that is dedicated to deity Krishna. It is located near the base of the town main hill. Here a beautiful particular of a bas relief that decorates (almost certainly) its interior. It appears a bit peculiar both with respect to other more known bas relieves of the same temple and for the upward trunk of the represented elephant, whose realistic figure gives back the ability of the artist. This is the scan of a slide taken in July-August, 1996.
