Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu: A panoramic view towards the backwater and the inland (the opposite site with respect to the beach on the Bay of Bengala of the Indian Ocean) that gives back the typical landscape, with dark green, thick vegetation, quite a lot of palm trees and some rocks that appears here and there. In the distance, there are stretches of water, stretches of sand, and profiles of mountains faraway. The photo is made at the top of one of the peaks of a quite tall and sharp upland, the main hill of the small town, that is characterized by typical, large, partially rose-colored rocks, some of which are in foreground. In detail, onto this peak are located the remains of the Olakkanesvara temple, and the peak is near to the highest hill peak, where is located the town light house. This is an enlargement of part of the scan of a slide taken in July-August, 1996.
